Andhra Pradesh to be on top in solar energy
Chief Minister distributes energy efficient fans to the people in Vijayawada.
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that AP would be on the top in the country in wind and solar energy. Launching the energy efficiency fans and agricultural pumpsets in a two day international workshop on energy efficiency and reforms here on Thursday, he said that all municipalities and households would be equipped with LED bulbs by March next year.
AP would supply quality power without power cuts in one year. The government would fix two lakh energy efficient pumpsets and would save 30 per cent power consumption from this move. He hoped that the energy efficiency pumps would be connected to mobile technology and farmers could operate the motors from their houses.
Moreover, the pumpsets would be replaced up to five years, if any repairs are raised as guarantee and no need to worry about expenditure. He directed the officials of Discoms to guide the farming community on benefits of efficient pumpsets. He requested the experts and officials to come forward with new and innovative ideas to change the society by providing best technologies.
He recalled that the AP government had followed various innovative methods and technology first time in country. As a result, the transmission losses were brought down to 10.52 per cent from 40 per cent, which is best in county but government aimed at reaching it for single digit at four per cent, he added.
The Chief Minister said that the AP government has already introduced LED bulbs fully for streetlighting in Visakhapat nam city after Hudhud cyclone devastation. Now the government would supply 4.5 million bulbs across the Vijayawada city by March 2017.
The digital India project would provide from 15 to 20 MBPS internet connectivity soon, he said, and added that initially, the project was estimated to cost '5,000 crore but one idea that by utilising existing electricity poles for cables has changed the project cost to Rs 3,00 crore. The AP capital Amaravati would be constructed with green energy buildings by utilising best energy practices.
The Chief Minister requested the experts and officials to visit Amaravati region and conduct more seminars in the particular area. State energy department secretary Ajay Jain, National Energy Deputy Conservation Centre deputy general Jiang, World Bank official Ashok Circar, other higher officials Ajay Madhur and Sourab Kumar were also present.
