Kasaragod: Mishap averted as rail track develops glitch

The train services between Kasargod and Kanhangad were suspended for a few hours due to the faulty track.

Contract to L&T has been awarded for electrification in two railway sections.

Kasargod: The alert railway field staff on Friday averted a major disaster at Chithari, here, after they discovered that granite boulders on the track had caved in for about one metre. The problem on the track was identified minutes before the Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Malabar Express train was to cross the station at around 7 pm.

The railway trackman stopped the train showing signal with crackers near the pit where the boulders had vanished. The train services between Kasargod and Kanhangad were suspended for a few hours due to the faulty track. Experts rushed to the spot and rectified the track within an hour.
