BRS plans stir against PM Modi's visit to Telangana over unfulfilled promises
Hyderabad: The BRS will hold protests in the districts against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state on Saturday for allegedly failing to fulfil the promises made to Telangana in AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 after nine years.
The party will raise the issues of Centre failing to set up a steel plant at Bayyaram, the 4000-MW NTPC power plant, road connectivity in the backward regions, rail coach factory at Kazipet, rapid road and rail connectivity between TS and AP that were promised in the bifurcation Act.
Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has decided to stay away from these PM's programmes. He has deputed minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav to receive and see off the PM.
BRS working president and minister K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday gave a call to party leaders and workers, to hold a 'maha dharna' against the Centre’s decision to auction coal mines of Singareni Collieries and Company Limited (SCCL).
The party leadership asked leaders and workers to hold demonstrations in their constituencies with black badges and black flags to protest against the failure of BJP-led government at the Centre in fulfilling the promises made to Telangana.
The party also asked leaders and workers to hold demonstrations in all district headquarters.
BRS senior leader and former MP B.Vinod Kumar justified the CM staying away from PM's programmes stating that it was Modi first who violated protocol by asking Chandrashekar Rao not to receive him when he arrived in Hyderabad in November 2020 ahead of the GHMC polls, when he had come to visit the Bharat Biotech plant to review the progress of developing the Covid-19 vaccine.
“What's the point in the PM laying the foundation for AIIMS-Bibinagar which became operational in 2019 and the construction of buildings crossed pillar-stage," Vinod asked. He reminded that it was the BRS government which sanctioned NIMS-Bibinagar buildings to the AIIMS to start operations in temporary campus in 2019.
Vinod demanded that Modi to give clarity on why Centre failed to fulfil promises made to Telangana in AP Reorganisation Act and why 14 national highway projects in TS were kept pending.
