KTR writes to Amit Shah, demands CRPF recruitment exam in Telugu
HYDERABAD: BRS working president and IT minister K.T. Rama Rao wrote to Union home minister Amit Shah on Friday demanding that the Centre hold the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) recruitment exam in Telugu and official regional languages in addition to English and Hindi.
Rama Rao said that holding central competitive exams in English and Hindi, which is a serious disadvantage to students who did not study in English medium or were not from Hindi-speaking states.
The minister said that the National Recruitment Agency (NRA) had decided to facilitate a Common Eligibility Test (NRA-CET) to replace multiple examinations and conduct these in 12 Indian languages.
"However, it’s not being implemented properly, including in the (CRPF) recruitment notification," he said.
He said that conducting competitive exams only in Hindi went against the spirit of the Constitution as there are several official languages in India. Rama Rao said that the CRPF notification denied people the right to equal opportunity, guaranteed by the Constitution.
Rama Rao recalled the letter written by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to the Centre on November 18, 2020, urging them to hold all competitive exams for Central government jobs in regional languages. He appealed to Amit Shah to revise the CRPF notification so that crores of youth studying in regional languages get equal opportunities without any discrimination or inequality.
