Students happy with facilities at test centres

Hyderabad: Students who appeared for the all-India National Eligibility and Entrance Test (Neet) for medical seats in Hyderabad on Sunday, were happy with the elaborate arrangements that had been made for them, like drinking water facilities, wall clock in the examination hall, police deployment, friendly and helpful  invigilators, metal detectors and physical frisking of candidates.
Students received strict instructions regarding the dress code and the time limit to enter the examination centre. Students expressed satisfaction with the arrangements at the examination centres.

They  were even provided with drinking water every half an hour to cool them off in this summer weather.   Invigilators were confronted with a situation when one of the students, who reached her centre in a government school in Sainikpuri, came with a fracture and couldn’t climb the stairs to the second floor to the examination hall allotted to her. After discussing the issue with Neet, Hyderabad coordinators decided that the student would be shifted to another room on the ground floor.

C. Surekha a student from HPS Ramanthpur centre, said, “In this hot summer weather  we were happy to get drinking water every half an hour, also the invigilators were very friendly and supportive and we were even provided with photographers for those students who forgot to bring their photographs as per the instructions’’. Seetha Kiran, coordinator for Neet Hyderabad said,

“Since watches were not allowed in the dress code instructions, we have provided wall clocks in every examination hall to help the students keep track of the time limit.’’

Confusion over carrying Aadhaar card

While Aadhaar card has become mandatory for everything from education to tax returns, the students at the Neet examination centres were confused on Sunday as to whether they had to carry the card with them to the exam halls.

There was no mention of the card in the instructions guidelines released by Neet.
Another confusion at the centres was that even after students were clearly instructed to carry their photographs with them, many of them have not brought the required number of copies of the photographs along with them.

As a result, the centres had to arrange photographers who could instantly provide photos.

Seetha Kiran, coordinator for Neet in Hyderabad, said, “The schools had to hire photographers even after it was clearly mentioned in the admit cards. The need for photo was published in newspapers, and this was shown on TV as well, but still students did not bring enough of their photographs.”
