Two chain snatchers arrested in Hyderabad
They would ride at high speed and stop near the unsuspecting victims when the pillion rider would snatch the ornaments.
Hyderabad: A West Zone Task Force team nabbed two for chain snatching and house burglaries and recovered 12 tolas of gold ornaments, a bike, two cell phones and a DSLR camera, all worth '4.5 lakh, from their possession.
The duo, identified as Mohd Khaleel alias Ghori, 27, and Gaddam Satish, 28, both native of Godavarikani, were earlier involved in theft, chain snatching, murder and house burglary cases.
“The accused are childhood friends and involved in more than 27 cases of murder, house burglary, theft and chain snatching under the limits of Cyberabad, Ramagundam and Godavari police stations from 2007 till 2016. They were arrested and remanded in 2016 under PD (Preventive Detention) Act and were later released” said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, B. Limba Reddy.
“They went to their native place and started leading a regular life. They, however, started house burgling and chain snatching again. They took a bike from Khaleel’s brother and come to the city to commit the offence and go back to their native place immediately,” said Mr Reddy.
They would ride at high speed and stop near the unsuspecting victims when the pillion rider would snatch the ornaments. They were identified by CCTV cameras installed in the city and nabbed by Commissioner’s Task Force on Saturday.
The accused persons, along with recovered property, were handed over to Bowenpally Police Station.
