Summer treat: Photo exhibition of British-era Nilgiris
Ms. J. Innocent Divya, Nilgiris collector, inaugurated this exhibition which will go on till May 27.
Ooty: As part of the ongoing summer festival in Nilgiris, a photo exhibition has been being organised by the Department of Forests and the Coimbatore-based NGO, 'Osai' at the horticulture complex here, on the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve (NBR) to showcase the beauty of the flora, fauna and landscape, on Monday.
The exhibition that showcases the brilliance of wildlife and nature photography also exhibits the skills of lensmen and shutterbugs in depicting the wonders of the NBR, the first biosphere reserve of the country. Ms. J. Innocent Divya, Nilgiris collector, inaugurated this exhibition which will go on till May 27.
The exhibition of hundreds of photographs on wildlife and nature will help visitors, especially tourists, to enjoy the diversity of wild animals and other flora that is present across the NBR.
K.Sayed, coordinator of 'Osai' organization, said that the exhibition is an attempt to give an insight into the rich bio-diversity in the NBR and enjoy the splendor of natural beauty in remote areas where human entry is restricted or not that easily approachable. This is also an attempt to tune in minds towards nature and wildlife conservation, he added.
The photographs of V.Mathimaran, a freelance photographer based here, depicts tribal culture and their festivals, besides the beauty of the hills in the British era. Some of his photos on man-animal conflict are truly awesome.
