Hanamkonda native elected dist councillor in UK

WARANGAL: Hema Yellapragada, a native of the Hanamkonda district settled in the United Kingdom, has won as the district councillor in the Warwick district council elections held on May 4.

Contesting from Warwick Myton and Heathcote ward on a Green Party ticket, Hema registered a massive victory.

Hema is the first woman candidate to win from Warwick Myton and Heathcote and also the first woman of Indian origin representing as a district councillor.

For the past 30 years, the Conservative party has been registering the victory in Warwick Myton constituency. Breaking the tradition, Hema is the first candidate who won from the Green Party defeating the Conservative Party candidate.

Hema is leading a movement in the Warwick constituency representing the Green party urging the government to introduce Telugu medium in schools there.
