Hyderabad: Schools are set to begin on June 12 but many parents who ordered textbooks and notebooks  online have not received them yet. Parents said that schools were providing links to them for purchase of the books. They were to have received the books by June 1.

A parent said, “I haven’t received any book, even though I pre-ordered a set a month ago. When we checked the online portal, it shows that we will get the books only on June 16 or 18.”

Some parents who received the books complained that  few of the books were missing. There are also cases where they have received only notebooks, and no textbooks. Mr  Chandrajeet Singh, whose child studies in St. Andrews School, said, “I have received all the books except for science textbook and a second language Hindi story book. The same problem is faced by many parents."

Schools have informed parents that there has been an unprecedented delay in the delivery of book packages ordered online. They said that the vendors had assured that all orders would be completed before June 12. Parents are receiving books at the same cost-to-cost price and the designated price of the MRP, unlike the extra charges that schools used to collect earlier.

Mr K. Venkat Sainath from the Hyderabad School Parents Association said that the process of ordering books online was limited to some international schools but more schools have now taken to it.
