Kerala: Four police officers beat another youth over helmet

A second year BBA student of MHES college, Vadakara, Naseef had not worn his helmet and was stopped by police at Orkkatteri town.

KOZHIKODE: Mohammed Naseef, 19, son of Abdulla P., Vattakkattu house, Kunnummakkara, was allegedly attacked by four police officers on Saturday night, while he was returning home after attending a marriage reception. A second year BBA student of MHES college, Vadakara, Naseef had not worn his helmet and was stopped by police at Orkkatteri town.

“Four of them first asked him Rs 1,000 as fine. When my son said that he did not have that much money, they demanded at least Rs 500. When he said, he did not take money, they slapped him on the face, one by one,” said Mr Abdulla. Naseef was admitted at Vadakara District Hospital and police took his statement following a complaint filed by his father on Sunday. However, police said that no case has been registered yet, though they took the statement. Parakkal Abdulla MLA condemned the act.
