P Prakash takes charge as Thiruvananathapuram city police commissioner

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Deputy Inspector General P. Prakash took charge as the city police commissioner on Monday, a few hours before the Assembly session began. Mr Prakash, a 2004 batch Kerala cadre IPS officer, has replaced R. Sparjan Kumar.

Mr Kumar has been appointed as the DIG of internal security. Mr Prakash was earlier posted as principal of Police Training College (PTC). He had earlier served as city police commissioner of Kollam and Thrissur.  He had an earlier stint in Thiruvananthapuram as the rural district police chief.  Mr Prakash hails from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu.
