The college, one of the oldest government educational institutions in the state, has bagged the titles for conducting more than 19 remarkable projects that are beneficial for the public as a whole. Among them were the timely interventions of the units during crisis situations including drought and mishaps. They include the Punarjani water conservation programme, Haritam Jeevanrutham, Sneha Veedu, Saaksharam, installation for sanitary napkin vending machine and incinerator at several parts of the district, Jaagratha, Green Clean Earth Movement and Saandwanam.

District fire officer Arun Bhasker said the fire rescue services department took up several joint programmes such as the cleaning of the city and its hospitals as well as school beautification with the NSS unit. “We also conducted awareness programme on several topics,” he said. “The best of their services along with us was to give a facelift to a school in the city, which was in a dilapidated condition without proper facilities for the students here.” Dr Baby Seema said the students deserved the recognition for taking up such programmes despite their busy academic schedule and without comprising on it.
