Woman home guard video goes viral on social media
Nizamabad: A video clip of woman Home Guard speaking of their plight went viral on social media, on a day M. Ravinder succumbed to his suicide attempt. Nagamani, a Home Guard with the Banswada police, said, "We are working under tremendous pressure with financial difficulty.”
“My husband has been suffering from bone cancer for two-and-a-half years. To make time for him, I admitted my two children in a hostel,” she said. Her husband was staying at Varni along with her in-laws, she said.
“Either getting leave or a posting at the nearest place is not possible in the police department,” she lamented. "We are providing bandobast for dharnas staged by different groups, but we are unable to hold a protest to press for our own demands.”
Nagamani urged Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to regularise the services of Home Guards. “We are working on par with the police personnel,,” she said. “We also wear uniforms. Don’t treat Home Guards as slaves of the police department. Provide us basic facilities,” she urged.
