Chennai: Two teenaged pillion riders were killed in separate mishaps including a hit-and-run reported in the city on Thursday night. In the hit-and-run accident, T. Rajesh (15), resident of Alandur, was riding pillion with his brother Lokesh (17), in Admabakkam.

While passing by the Alandur subway, the bike he was on was hit by an unidentified vehicle which knocked him over and sped away, at around 7 pm.
Rajesh suffered head injury and his brother rushed him to a neighbouring hospital where the doctors declared the boy dead on arrival.

The body was subsequently moved to the Chromepet GH. An investigation had been launched to identify the vehicle which caused the accident. Preliminary investigations suggest it was a heavy vehicle. In the other incident, M. Rakesh (16), resident of Kasimedu, was fatally knocked down when he and his friend were passing through Surya Narayana street by an MTC route 1A bus plying between Tiruvanmiyur and Tiruvottiyur.

The bike rider suffered minor injuries and scooted away from the accident scene.
The absconding rider did not possess a valid licence while the bus diver Neeraj (36), resident of Sholavaram, was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
