Anthargam mandal residents complain of leopard movement
KARIMNAGAR: Officials of the forest department alerted people living in the neighbouring villages of Anthargam mandal after finding the footprints of the leopard in the Peddampet village of the mandal here in Peddapalli district on Saturday.
Upon receipt of information from the residents of Peddampet village that they have noticed the movement of leopards in their fields, the forest officials accompanied by the animal tracker teams went to the spot and traced the footprints of the leopard.
The Ramagundam forest officer Rahematullah said that they spotted the footprints of the leopard at the outskirts of village and in the ST colony in Peddampet village. He also alerted people living in the surrounding villages of Anthargam mandal and cautioned the people of the region not to venture into the forests or graze cattle, goats and sheep following the movement of leopards.
He ordered people and the farmers to remove the traps or electric fencing if they had arranged to protect their fields from wild animals and warned them of taking stringent action as per law if anyone tried to harm the leopard.
