Puducherry: The Nellithope constituency by-election is witnessing a stiff fight between the two main parties in election fray — AIADMK and Congress.

Congress continued its allegation that AIADMK is trying to instigate violence during the November 19 by-election for the Nellithope, where AIADMK accused Congress candidate and Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy of violating the model code of conduct right from the date of election notification.

Congress delegation led by PCC president and PWD minister A. Namasivayam met district collector and district election officer Sathyendra Singh Dursawat and submitted a memorandum seeking election department's intervention to ensure peaceful election.

According to Namassivayam, Congress is campaigning peacefully but AIADMK candidate Om Sakthi Sekhar has been using 'rowdies' to coerce people to vote in his favour.

On the other hand, AIADMK leader A. Anbazhagan alleged that Congress candidate Narayanasamy is distributing money among voters with police protection.
