Sastra scholars win Lex Omnia moot in Goa

THANJAVUR: Shanmugha Arts Science Technology and Research Academy (SASTRA) University Law School here won the Lex Omnia moot organised by the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) University of Law, Hyderabad at Goa.

SASTRA Law School beat Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Law School from Odisha by one point in the closely contested finals.

Thirty two teams including many national law schools participated and SASTRA beat Campus Law Centre and  Christ University during the prelims and University Law College (ULC),  Bengaluru in the quarter finals and Chandigarh University during the semi-finals.

The Moot Problem was on the constitutional validity of Section 124A of IPC (sedition) and the competency of the HC to issue a ban on trade (in the absence of a law to that effect).   The winning team were presented a trophy and cash prize of '17,000.
