World Federation of Haemophilia (WFH) has approved the twinning partnership for a period of up to four years and it will support it for the same period. The twinning is scheduled to close on December 31, 2021, unless an early closure is requested or recommended.

Dr. Stephanie Pineda, programme coordinator, Twinning & Global Training, WFH headquarters, Montreal, informed Dr. N. Vijayakumar, medical officer in charge of the Haemophilia Treatment Centre, Aluva, about the approval the other day.

The twinning program aims to improve hemophilia care in emerging countries through a formal, two-way partnership between two hemophilia organizations or treatment centres.

The twinning partnerships could achieve improved diagnosis and treatment over time, enrich the knowledge of healthcare professionals caring for hemophilia patients, enhance outreach initiatives, facilitate resource sharing and strengthen patient organizations through capability building

WFH financially supports the partnerships through project grants and funding for assessment visits apart from supplying WFH publications and manuals that are instrumental to twinning activities.
