TTD's Sri Padmavati Children\'s Heart Centre Performs 2,030 Heart Surgeries in 2 Years
Tirupati: The Sri Padmavati Children's Heart Centre, run by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, has performed as many as 2,030 heart surgeries, including eight heart transplants, in the past two years.
Sharing this, TTD executive officer AV Dharma Reddy said the Heart Care Centre for infants was established in October 2021, as recommended by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
“It started with a 15-member medical team led by Dr. Srinath Reddy. By now, this children's hospital has maintained an impressive 95 per cent success rate in heart surgeries and is hailed as one of the most popular and best paediatric healthcare centres in the country.”
Its medical procedures are covered under the Aarogyasri and the Union Government’s various health schemes.
Hospital Director Dr Srinath Reddy said, “We have a highly skilled medical team. All critical operations for newborns and kids have been successful. Even costly and high-risk operations were carried out free of cost, thanks to the coverage from the CM’s relief fund and the SV Pranadana Trust”.
"We have recently introduced procedures such as artery transplants, eliminating the need for open-heart surgeries. We plan to undertake kidney, brain and bone marrow surgeries after the completion of the 350-bed super specialty hospital, equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities," Dr Reddy added.
TTD EO Dharma Reddy interacted with some heart transplant patients who benefited from the services of the Sri Padmavati Children's Heart Centre. The patients, Koteswara Reddy (32) from Kurnool, Sumati (31) from Guntur, and Karunakar (39) from Kakalur shared their experiences and praised the hospital's facilities.
Sumati and Karunakar, who had undergone heart transplants, were later discharged.
