High alert marks CM visit:
The Kozhikode police was not ready to take a chance on Thursday, when Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was attending two functions in the district, before heading to Kannur. The entire force was on the road throughout his route, hours before he passed to attend a function in JDT Islam school. Four to five cops were deployed in almost all the junctions, making traffic smooth, especially in front of the educational institutions.
They were checking all vehicles including two-wheelers. The security for the Chief Minister was increased in light of the protest by the fisherfolk in Vizhinjam, and attack on his vehicle. The CM had to leave his vehicle and return in minister Kadakampally Surendran’s car. The Chief Minister headed for Villyappilly and then proceeded to Thalassery after the function in Vellimadukunnu.
