Vijayawada: Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Friday complained to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of AP about various irregularities in voters’ list of the state.

In a letter to the CEO, he pointed out that changes in electoral rolls are not being made as per the Electoral Manual 2023. He maintained that at the behest of the ruling YSRC, the procedure laid down for enrolment of voters is not being followed, leading to enrolment of ineligible persons and deletion of voters likely to support the opposition.

A copy of Naidu’s letter released to media referred to Rule 6 of Registration of Electors 1960, which specifies that the electoral rolls shall be according to house numbers. The former chief minister underlined that this condition is being breached.

Further, ineligible persons are being registered online using Form 6 and names of voters belonging to opposition parties are being deleted under directions of the ruling dispensation. He maintained that names can be deleted from the voters’ list only when sufficient evidence is available.

Naidu underlined that TD leaders have made several complaints in this regard, but no one has focused on them. He protested that Bulk Form-7 applications are not being accepted either online or in person.

The TD chief appealed to the CEO to initiate steps ensuring that such irregularities are not committed when the final voters’ list is being prepared.
