₹50 lakh sanctioned to repair canal locks

HYDERABAD: Konaseema district collector Himanshu Shukla on Wednesday sanctioned ₹80 lakh to repair 11 locks of the Godavari canal to ensure free flow of water.

Though water for irrigation is being supplied to agricultural fields on a sharing basis, there have been obstacles in flow of water at certain places due to certain locks on Godavari canal being damaged.

As per instructions of the collector, irrigation officials inspected the canals and submitted a report on the damaged locks.

Himanshu Shukla sanctioned the requisite amount and instructed that the locks of canals be repaired within three days.
