LDF policy is abstinence from liquor, asserts VS Achuthanandan
VS said that CM and UDF were carrying out a false propaganda on the stand taken by LDF.
Palakkad: CPM veteran V.S. Achuthanadan on Friday alleged that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and the UDF were carrying out a false propaganda over the stand taken by the LDF on the liquor policy. “Our policy is of abstinence from liquor and to gradually bring down its consumption,” he told mediapersons during his election campaign in Malampuzha constituency.
He was reacting to the allegations of the UDF that if the LDF comes to power, the ‘closed bars’ would be reopened. VS attended five events in Palakkad out of which three were panchayat conventions and two public meetings in Sreekrishnapuram.
He said that the LDF government had acquired 431 acres of land in Kanjikode in Palakkad, but both the NDA and UPA governments at the centre and the UDF government in Kerala could not take forward the railway coach project.
Most public sector units in the district, including the sugar factory, were struggling to stay afloat due to the wrong polices of the UDF government, he alleged.
He also said that Rs 100 crore was spent in the constituency from the local area development funds during the last five years.
