THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president M.M. Hassan said that three women Congress leaders will start their indefinite fast in front of Secretariat on Sunday at 10 am in support of Mahija, Jishnu Pranoy's mother’s fight for justice. Mahila Congress state president and Kollam DCC president Bindu Krishna, Political Affairs Committee member Shanimol Usman and KPCC general secretary Lathika Subhash are the leaders who have offered solidarity with Mahija.
Mahila Congress held a prayer meeting state-wide in support of Jishnu's family for justice. Bindu Krishna and her team of women leaders offered pongala in front of the Government Secretariat praying that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan should come back to his senses. She told reporters that the people in Kerala are aware of the police high-handedness meted out to Mahija and her family members when they came to visit DGP at his office.
"But unfortunately it is the CM who is keeping on defending the police action. It is nothing but the false pride and stubbornness of CM which is ruling the roost. Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala will inaugurate the indefinite fast on Monday morning", said Bindu Krishna. She also added that a woman minister in the LDF cabinet had also rallied behind the CM putting Mahija on the defensive. Bindu Krishna was referring to health minister K. K. Shyalaja who had supported the police high handedness on Saturday.
Earlier, KPCC president M. M. Hassan alleged that the Government's advertisement in leading Malayalam newspapers defending the police highhandedness against the family members of Jishnu Pranoy is nothing but corruption. He claimed that the exchequer has been misused for false propaganda. "In fact the khaki uniform and the police cap of the DGP suits the Chief Minister very much", said Hassan.
Chennithala too came down heavily against the Government sponsored advertisement which came in the leading newspapers on Saturday where it had defended the police action against Mahija. Meanwhile, the KSU which led a march to Cliff House, official residence of CM, turned violent where the police had to resort to use water cannons against the protestors. CM was not in the capital city on Saturday where he has been touring Thrissur and neighbouring districts.
