Chennai: Trade licence for spas, massage, beauty parlours
The judge directed the state government to issue paper publication inviting application from the persons running beauty parlour/spa/massage parlour.
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has informed the Madras high court that a notification has been issued and by which, the beauty parlour, spa and massage parlour are included in Schedule VI for obtaining trade license to be issued by the competent authorities.
Recording the same and disposing of a batch of petitions, Justice K.Ravichandrabaabu directed the petitioners to apply for the license to run their beauty parlour/spa/massage parlour before the authority concerned by making necessary applications within one month.
On receipt of such applications, the authority concerned shall dispose of such application on merits and in accordance with law on or before June 30, 2019.
The judge directed the state government to issue paper publication inviting application from the persons running beauty parlour/spa/massage parlour, to apply for license with effect from June 30, 2019. The government of Tamil Nadu also will intimate, through a general circular, all the Municipalities and Corporations about the respective notification issued with regard to the requirement to get license by the beauty parlour/spa/massage parlour, the judge added.
The judge said since the time to issue license was extended till June 30, 2019 the authorities were directed to maintain status quo as on today in respect of beauty parlour/spa/massage parlour in the state till June 30, 2019.
However, the above order of status quo will not be a bar for the law enforcing authorities to take appropriate action against any of the beauty parlour/spa/massage parlour, if they receive any complaint against them of some illegal or unlawful activities allegedly being carried on in those places, the judge added.
