Kozhikode: Over 100 kilogram of banned tobacco products was seized from Kozhikode railway station by the excise enforcement and anti-narcotic special squad and railway protection force on Monday.

The products were carried in two different packets, containing 50 kg each. Similar packets were transported to the district last month also, said officials.
The teams conducted checks on a tip- off in the parcel section. The exact value of the items was yet to be ascertained. The production, possession, distribution and sale of tobacco products such as pan masala and gutka are banned.
The items were covered with camphor and talcum powder to avoid smell. The inspection team was led by excise circle inspector P. Sajith Kumar and RPF sub- inspector Nishanth.
