Renuka Chowdary slams K Chandrasekhar Rao for raids in room
Chowdary staged a rasta roko against the police action and asked the Election Commission to take action against the cops.
Khammam: Police raids on women followers of Congress candidate Renuka Chowdary who were staying in a hotel caused tension in Khammam on Monday.
Ms Chowdary staged a rasta roko against the police action and asked the Election Commission to take action against the cops.
Hundreds of Congress activists sat on the road at Mayuri Centre along with Ms Chowdary and raised slogans against the TRS government.
“There is no security for women in the state. How did cops raid the rooms of women without proper information? K. Chandrasekhar Rao is trying to create terror by ordering such raids against women,” she said.
The police opened the doors of the rooms where the women followers were staying in the hotel and searched the premises without prior information. She said that she would complain to the EC on the issue.
She met district election officer R.V. Karnan and police commissioner Tafseer Iqbal and demanded action be taken against the police. The two officials asked her to formally lodge a complaint. “There is no person here who is afraid of Mr Rao who is acting like a despot. I am the daughter of an Army officer and I will not fear such nasty tactics. I want justice for the incident,” she said.
She added that raiding the rooms of women without the presence of a woman constable was highly deplorable.
“Mr Modi and Mr Rao are two sides of one coin. Voting for Mr Rao is nothing but voting for Mr Modi,” she alleged.
