Rajahmundry: TD Denduluru MLA Chinthamaneni Prabhakar kicked up yet another row late on Sunday, obstructing a police officer from discharging his duty at Gundugolanu Junction falling under Dendulur police station limits in West Godavari district.
According to Dendulur police, the legislator got angry at the cops for not allowing heavy vehicles in the direction of Devarapalli where a large number of devotees were taking part in ‘Ammavari Jatara’.
The cops were regulating vehicular traffic on the NH-16. The legislator reached Gundugolanu Junction where he entered into a heated argument with the ASI attached to Devarapalli police station J. Papa Rao and allegedly obstructed the police official from discharging his duties.
Mr Prabhakar reportedly abused the police officers who were on duty at that time. Based on a complaint lodged by Mr Papa Rao, police booked a case against Mr Prabhakar under Sections 323, 353 and 506 of the IPC. The case is under investigation.
Earlier, the TD MLA had announced that he would resign from his elected post and also the primary membership of the party after being denied a berth in the recent Cabinet reshuffle. However, he is continuing in both the posts at present.
