Mysuru: Wedding bells keep the palace bustling

Mysuru: It’s a wedding that the whole of Mysuru is looking forward to.  With the young scion of the royal family of Mysuru,  Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar readying to tie the knot with Trishika Kumari of the royal family of Rajkot on June 27,  the Mysuru palace is a buzz of activity.

But the wedding, scheduled to take place at the palace kalyana mantapa on June 27,will be a private affair  with only family members, relatives and select invitees present, according to royal family sources. The reception will be held in the main durbar hall the next day.

The ceremony, could, however be telecast live on an LED screen outside the palace. Also, as the main durbar hall is visible from outside,  seating arrangements could be made for the public in front of the palace, say sources. It’s also possible that the young  couple could ride in a silver chariot in the palace grounds, but no decision has been taken as yet on this, they add .

With the elaborate wedding rituals  set to begin from June 24, the palace will be closed to visitors starting that day until the 29th.

The 27th custodian of the 600 year old Wadiyar dynasty, 24 year old  Yaduveer was engaged to Trishika Kumar much before his coronation. His wedding comes over 30 years after the late scion of the royal family. Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar  tied the knot at the palace with Pramodadevi Wadiyar in February 1976.  While that  wedding also took place at the palace kalayanamantapa, the reception was held on its lawns,  recall old timers.

The grandson of  the late maharaja’s eldest sister,  Gayathri Devi,  Yaduveer was officially adopted by  Pramoda Devi after his death as the couple had no children.
