Hyderabad: The wait for enhancement of retirement age for state government employees from 58 years to 60 years and regularisation of contract staff is likely to be longer.

Though the government is in favour of approving both these demands, it wants to wait for another two to three months before making an official announcement.
Though there are no major issues with enhancement of retirement age, there are some legal complications in regularising the services of contract employees.

This is because the rule of reservations was not followed in recruitment of contract staff initially during late 90s and early 2000s, but was followed later.

With this, the government is in a dilemma over how to overcome this issue since the entire process may get stuck up in legal dispute if someone approaches the courts later. This could happen if regularisation is done without addressing this issue.

Official sources say that the government is keeping both these issues pending on account of these reasons. The government plans to announce increase in retirement age and regularisation of contract staff simultaneously.

The bifurcation of state-cadre staff between TS and AP is almost at its end. The AP government has speeded up shifting of its Secretariat and HoD offices located in Hyderabad to Amaravati,  and intends to complete this exercise by this month-end.

However, the latest developments indicate that the bifurcation of staff and shifting of staff may extend till July-end. Meanwhile, leaders of Telangana employees unions continue to meet Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao almost once in every week to get him to approve their demands.

But there are indications that the employees have to wait at least till Dasara for implementation of both these sops. TNGOs honorary president G. Deviprasad said, “The CM is in favour of our demands but he is waiting for the right time to make an announcement on this. It will be a matter of two-three months.” The government is planning to announce these sops for employees as Dasara gift.
