Hyderabad: The Ghatkesar police rescued a man who was attempting to die by suicide on the railway tracks, with the train just 300 metres away at NFC Nagar in Ghatkesar on Thursday night.

Ghatkesar inspector M. Mahender Reddy said the police received a call from Netala village of Jangaon at 5.40 pm on Wednesday from a elderly man who stated that his son had told him that he was going to die by suicide.

Police collected the son’s mobile number, tracked his location and formed a special team led by sub-inspector P. Ashok, constables G. Suresh and M. Rajanna. Using GPS, they reached the man just in time.

“Luckily he had kept his mobile which helped us track him,” said Mahender Reddy. The rescued man told the police that he was facing personal problems. The police counselled him and handed him over to his parents.
