NIZAMABAD: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha said that the BJP government copied the Mission Kakatiya programme from Telangana state, but failed to implement it successfully. Under Amrit Sarovar, the central government took up the development of water tanks in villages, but it failed to release sufficient funds, she criticised.

As part of Telangana formation's decennial celebrations, Kavitha took part in Cheruvula Panduga programme at Yedapally mandal headquarters in Bodhan Assembly constituency on Thursday. Bodhan MLA Shakil Amer, zilla parishad chairman Dadannagari Vittal Rao and others were present.

Speaking at the meeting, Kavitha said that around 12 states in the country copied Telangana schemes. Telangana state has become a role model for other states in developmental activities and welfare schemes, she said. She said that maintenance of water tanks was neglected during united Andhra Pradesh.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao wanted to develop Kakatiya-era water tanks, which are a lifeline for rural development, she said. Kavitha suggested Congress leaders visit each household to see the welfare schemes implemented by the BRS government.

State government developed 47,000 water tanks with Rs 5000 crore across the state, MLC said. Rs 3 lakh will be given to the plot owners to construct houses under the Gruha Laxmi scheme soon, he said.
