Bengaluru: As the second round of Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) allotment for engineering, architecture, agriculture and veterinary seats are scheduled to begin from July 11, the aspiring doctors of the state seem to be confused as the complete schedule for their allotments are not made available on the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) portal yet.

“I have picked Choice 2 as suggested by the KEA in the first allotment and have been waiting ever since for a schedule for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) counselling. With the second round of allotment to start next week, I have no idea what to pick next,” said Sachin B, who demands the Authority to hold NEET counselling along with the second round of counselling to other disciplines.

For another candidate, the uncertainty might affect her ambition of becoming a doctor as her parents who are unwilling to risk her waiting is compelling her to finalise the engineering seat which was allotted to her after the first round.

“The whole system without proper dates being announced is making the process confusing. I hope everything falls in place as soon as possible,” she said.

Adding to their worries is the “unresponsive behaviour” of the officials at the helpline desk of the Authority. “The authorities should be more responsible and responsive as it is a matter of our lives,” said Purushottam, a candidate who thinks the KEA should make more helpline numbers available.

Lakshmi, a parent from Basavangudi said, “I have been trying to contact the numbers displayed on the website since yesterday. Two out of the four numbers are always busy while the other two are out of order.” At the same time, officials believe that the revised schedule of seat allotment for the second round of counselling would come handy for the candidates. “Candidates can now take safer calls even if they fail to get a medical or dental seat at the counselling. The extended time given to them can be used to seek a seat from other disciplines as well,” said a KEA official.
