Hyderabad: Five transgenders who were creating nuisance on the roads and extorted money from the pedestrians were arrested by the Narsingi police on Wednesday. A video of the transgenders attacking a man with footwear and removing their dresses had gone viral on social media.
The pedestrian, identified as Satyanarayana, had complained to Narsingi police, who swung into action and arrested K. Sivani, K. Swapna, R. Swati, A. Swetha and D. Sweety on charges of extortion. Narsingi inspector G.V. Ramana Goud said, “Five transgenders have been arrested on the charges of extortion. Many victims were not willing to complain, but one person came forward. We warn the transgenders to not indulge in any illegal and obscene activities.”
