Hyderabad: A 31-year-old man who was involved in the peddling of ganja was booked under the Preventive Detention Act by Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat and was sent to Cherlapally Central Prison on Thursday.

The commissioner said that the accused, Kamoji Kondal, 31, who runs a hair cutting salon at Gandhi Nagar in Balapur, was arrested by the Meerpet police on June 11, when he was smuggling 185 kg of ganja from Andhra Pradesh to Telangana state. Four others were also arrested along with Kondal, he said.

Kondal was earlier arrested twice in similar cases and is facing trial in the court. He, however, continued peddling the contraband.

In order to prevent him from continuing with his illegal activities, Kondal was detained under the PD Act on Thursday, said the commissioner.
