Hyderabad: Tiffin center owner dies in LPG fire
Hyderabad: A tiffin centre owner died when leaking gas exploded from a cylinder that he had just connected, at his eatery’s kitchen in Rangareddynagar, Balanagar, on Tuesday. The incident took place at about noon, just after the victim Mankar Suresh replaced a cylinder and busy preparing food in the kitchen of Shree Sai tiffin centre.
Suresh was standing near the stove and would have had no time to react and, police said. The kitchen had no ventilation.
“We heard him screaming, there was a lot of flames,” G. Ganesham, a witness and friend of Suresh.
“We stopped passerby and alerted the locals till the police reached the scene,” Ganesham said. Luckily, there were no customers at that time, he said.
Tiffin centre workers Madhu and Srikanth threw several buckets of water but could not douse the flames.
“We strongly suspect that the regulator was not properly due to which the gas leaked and caught fire,” said Balanagar police inspector K. Bhaskar.
Police Suresh, along with his wife, brother and 14-year-old daughter had migrated from Maharashtra 17 years back and were staying in a rented house in Rangareddynagar.Police registered a case of accidental fire and shifted the victim’s body to Gandhi hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
