PWD minister G Sudhakaran gives nod to Rs 200 crore road stretch
UDF govt had included this project without earmarking funds
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Public Works Department on Thursday gave administrative sanction for the Rs 200-crore second stretch of road from Pravachambalam to Vazhimukku. The previous UDF government had included this project under the District Flagship Infrastructure Project without earmarking requisite funds. PWD minister G. Sudhakaran gave administrative sanction for the project as per the advice of the additional chief secretary, according to statement by the PWD here.
After work on the first stretch between Karamana and Kaliyikkavila was completed, the department faced a fund-crunch that had caused inordinate delay in starting the next stage of the work. This year’s budget, however, made provision for the project, the statement said, adding funds will be made available through the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board.
