Odisha: Parents turn to sorcerer to make dead son alive

According to reports, the parents of the child were assured that their son would be alive by 4 pm on Saturday following the rituals.

As per the suggestions of few villagers, the body was taken to a mango garden where a woman sorcerer assured the family to bring back their dead son.

CHHATRAPUR: In a bizarre incident, sorcery rituals are being conducted at Chhatrapur in Odisha’s Ganjam district to make a dead child alive. The rituals which started on Tuesday will be conducted till 4 pm on Saturday.

According to reports, the parents of the child were assured that their son would be alive by 4 pm on Saturday following the rituals.

The deceased child, identified as Sainanda, son of Sachidananda Sahoo of Sundarpur under Chhatrapur block, had died on Tuesday following illness.

According to reports, Sainanda, who was suffering from fever, was first brought to Chhatrapur Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment from where he was shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur. 

Later, he was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where he died.

Instead of taking the body to crematorium at his village even after the child was declared dead by the doctors, Sachidananda brought it to his home after his family felt the dead son alive. 

As per the suggestions of few villagers, the body was taken to a mango garden where a woman sorcerer assured the family to bring back their dead son.

On being informed about the incident, police reached the spot where the family and villagers prohibited them to enter the garden. They urged the police to wait for a day till the dead son wakes up.
