TTD opens new kitchen at SVIMS to offer free meals to the students
NELLORE: TTD executive officer A.V. Dharma Reddy on Friday inaugurated a new kitchen at SVIMS hospital aimed at providing free food to students studying Physiotherapy, Nursing and Paramedical courses.
He also inspected the brand-new kitchen appliances and cooking systems and menu and interacted with kitchen staff as well as students.
He said the TTD board had decided to provide free food to nearly 800 students as Srivari Anna Prasadam and to stop the system of collecting ₹3,500 from students and supply of food through a canteen contractor.
He said the TTD initiative helped reduce the financial burden on parents of students and asked students to inform their parents that the TTD provided free accommodation for breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner.
He said the students should form teams to clean the hostel rooms and the kitchen daily. The warden and deputy warden should supervise the hostel rooms and kitchen regularly and ensure against issues.
He cautioned about strict action on supervision staff and students if they fail in observing discipline and against misconduct.
They should also guard and avert wastage of power and water in the hostel and classrooms, he added.
SVIMS vice-chancellor Dr B. Vengamma said they would provide free food to the students of SVIMS, including those pursuing Nursing and Paramedical courses from Saturday.
