Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran has demanded  the resignation of Industries Minister E. P. Jayarajan for violating the oath of office and indulging in nepotism.  Mr Sudheeran alleged that Mr Jayarajan had breached his oath of office and hence had no right to continue as  minister. The Youth Congress blocked Mr Jayarajan in Ernakulam on Saturday. YC state president Dean Kuriakose said  they would intensify the stir against him.

The BJP leadership had earlier demanded his resignation, but then the Opposition was busy with its  agitation against the fee structure in the self-financing  medical colleges.  BJP general secretary K. Surendran had alleged that Mr Jayarajan appointed three close relatives in key posts in the industries department. Congress sources told DC that the Opposition will raise the nepotism row in the Assembly which will resume its session on  October  17. “Though the appointment of Sudheer Nambiar has been cancelled, the row is not yet over,” said sources.
