KANNUR: Five policemen and five CPM workers were injured when a bomb was hurled at a protest march of the CPM at Kaivelikkal near Panoor in Kannur on Sunday evening. The incident occurred at around 5.30 pm. Those injured were admitted to the Cooperative Hospital, Thallassery. The other day a bomb was hurled at a house of an RSS worker in the area. This attack is believed to be a retaliation to the earlier one.

The injured include five CPM local committee members and Panur circle inspector K.S. Shaji. Mr Shaji said that though the injuries were not serious it was a narrow escape for many. CPM Panur area committee called for a dawn to dusk hartal in Panur municipality area and adjacent Mokery, Chokli, Thrippangottur and  Kunnothuparambu panchayats in Kannur district on Monday.
