Andhra Pradesh: Save Soil campaigner undertakes 29-km run to raise awareness
The Save Soil campaign advocates responsible land use and organic farming practices
Visakhapatnam: In an effort to raise awareness about the role soil health plays in human well-being, city-based campaigner Subramanya Sharma has undertaken a challenging 29-km run from MVP Colony to the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
This endeavor was part of the Save Soil campaign, aimed at fostering a healthier environment and a more sustainable future for the city’s residents.
Sharma advocates soil conservation and environmental preservation and sought to stress on the direct correlation between soil health and human health. “By nurturing and protecting our soil, we can pave the way for a healthier and more prosperous community,” he says.
Speaking about the campaign, Sharma said, "Our soil is the foundation of life. It provides us with food, clean water and a stable environment. It's time we recognize the value of soil and work together to preserve and rejuvenate it."
Soil degradation and pollution have become pressing concerns in Visakhapatnam as the fast-paced industrialisation and urbanization are taking a toll on the region's natural resources. The Save Soil campaign advocates responsible land use, organic farming practices and pollution control measures.
