Telangana: Techies told to hide logos while drinking
IT firms want to protect brand image during police checking.
Hyderabad: Employees of blue chip IT companies like IBM, Infosys and Cognizant and Deloitte, a multi-national consulting firm, have been told not to wear T-shirts with the company logo while having a drink. The logo is seen during drunken driving checks, leading to brand damage. Mr Sumanth Rao, a corporate employee sa-id, “We received emails from the HR team not to wear T-shirts with company logo if we go to parties. The company al-so warned of strict act-ion if staff is caught wearing the company T-shirt while partying”
The Hyderabad traffic police said that many IT employees were caught during checking. Certain companies have stopped gifting T-shirts to employees. A human resource officer of a reputed company, who did not want to be named, told Deccan Chronicle, “Our company has not stopped providing T-shirts to its employees. However, the employees have been strictly instructed to wear them only for official meetings.”
A few corporate houses have stopped giving T-shirts as gifts. They instead give coffee mugs with company lo-go, bags, pens and other accessories to their staff. A.R. Srinivas, deputy commissioner of police, Cyberabad traffic police, said, “In the Cyberabad jurisdiction, maximum drivers scre-ened for drunk driving are corporate employees. During the checks, officers certainly don’t target a particular group. If a person is caught for drunk driving, his or her personal and professional details are sought. In Cyberabad, checks are held at Gachibowli, Madhapur, Miyapur, Kukatpally, Balanagar, Jeedimetla, Alwal, Rajendranagar and Shamshabad.
