Haritha Keralam Mission launched in Kozhikode
Cleanliness programmes and plastic banning mission were led by the sanitation workers of Kozhikode Corporation.
KOZHIKODE: The ‘Haritha Keralam Mission’ in Kozhikode on Thursday, inaugurated by M.T Vasudevan Nair, marked the beginning of a major campaign to address issues like waste management, conservation of water sources, environment and promotion of agriculture. Minister for Labour and Excise T.P Ramakrishnan, presided over the function. Cleanliness programmes and plastic banning mission were led by the sanitation workers of Kozhikode Corporation. “Lands suitable for agriculture will be cleaned soon,” says K. Imbashek-har, Assistant Collector.
To ensure effective implementation of this mission, the governing body of ‘Haritha Keralam’ headed by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has formed committees at the district-level with MPs, MLAs, representatives at corporations, municipalities, block and grama panchayats. While speaking during the inaugural ceremony of Haritha Keralam Mission, the Minister said that the government would take measures to save the existing agricultural lands.
