RDSO certificate for Kochi Metro coaches
The next important step would be obtaining the approval of the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS).
KOCHI: The Kochi Metro Rail Limited has achieved a major milestone in clearing the operational procedures with the Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO) providing the speed certificate for coaches manufactured by Alstom. This is one of the most significant statutory approvals for the commercial operations. The next important step would be obtaining the approval of the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS).
RDSO has issued the speed certificate for the operation of rail cars with air suspension in the secondary stage up to the maximum speed of 80 kmph. “It is a matter of great pride that the RDSO clearance has been obtained without any hitch. Credit goes to the team of engineers of both KMRL and DMRC, who have worked together as one team to make this happen’, said Elias George, managing director of KMRL.
The first trial run of the coaches was conducted on February 27, 2016, and the RDSO inspections between September 28 and October 8. KMRL will now submit the application to CMRS for further inspections and clearance of the rolling stock by next week. The Union government’s approval will be accorded based on the inspection report of CMRS.
