Hyderabad: Justice Kanneganti Lalitha of Telangana High Court directed police not to interfere and evict a resident of Mulugu in the name of construction of a new police station.

Mohammad Khaja Pasha and his son Sajeed Pasha had filed a writ petition complaining that the district panchayat officers and the police were threatening to demolish their house, which is beside the new police station. Their counsel contended that they were in possession of the land which was their ancestral property. He argued that without serving notice, the police were trying to demolish the house.

The government pleader said that the petitioners were encroachers. During a socio-economic survey, four of the five families living in the premises had agreed to give their land for construction of a police station, he claimed. The government pleader stated that the police station needed complete security as was is situated in a sensitive area.

The court after hearing both sides, disposed of the petition observing that the police had acted in a highhanded manner by evicting the petitioners. He directed the police not to interfere with their possession except under authority of law.

RR collector summoned for ignoring HC order

Justice M. Sudheer Kumar of Telangana High Court summoned the Ranga Reddy district collector and other revenue authorities, including the tahsildar and sub-registrar of Shamshabad mandal for their failure to file a counter affidavit in a pending case despite being given time. The batch of writ petitions were filed by individuals and construction companies complaining that the sub-registrar had unilaterally cancelled the previously registered sale deeds with respect to the petitioners’ property situated in Bahadurguda village. Observing that no counter is filed on multiple hearings, the judge directed the appearance of government officers on failure to file counters before December 16.
