Cop shot at by suspected militants in Srinagar
Srinagar: At a time when Jammu and Kashmir police is mourning the death of one of its young officer Masroor Ahmed Wani days after he was shot from point blank range by an assailant while playing cricket on Srinagar’s Idgah ground, another member of the force was targeted in a similar way by a gunman in the city on Saturday.
The police said that militants fired upon constable Hafiz Ahmad Chat in the Mathiya Bund Hamdania Colony in Srinagar’s Bemina area Saturday evening. He was quickly evacuated to the nearby SKIMS Medical College Hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.
“We’re attending to him. He has received bullet wounds in abdomen and the right arm. We’re hopeful,” said a doctor at the hospital.
