Hyderabad: Former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was making satisfactory progress following Friday’s left hip replacement surgery, according to a bulletin on his health released by Yashoda Hospitals on Saturday.

It said that Rao was not experiencing pain, and took a few steps on Saturday with the help of a walker under the supervision of the orthopaedic surgeon who operated on him.

A team of doctors is monitoring Rao’s health and healing. As per the international practice guidelines which prescribe that the patient be made to walk within 12 hours of the surgery, Rao was “mobilised from the bed and made to walk under the supervision of the surgeon and physiotherapy team. He has been given a schedule of exercises for his rehabilitation and speedy recovery,” the bulletin said.

It may be recalled that Rao fell at his farmhouse late on Thursday night and suffered a fracture in his left hip joint.
