One Dies, Six Taken Fall Ill After Having Food at Wedding

Visakhapatnam: A 35-year-old woman died and another six were hospitalised reportedly after consuming food at a wedding ceremony held in Nalabodduru village of Mandasa mandal in Srikakulam district.

The deceased was identified as Teppala Janakamma of Bethalapuram village.

Chief medical officer of community health centre at Haripuram said seven patients came in different times complaining of vomiting, stomach pain and drowsiness.

One of the patient Janakamma’s condition became serious and she was referred to RIMS Hospital Srikakulam. Her condition worsened and she died on the way to the hospital.

“We have discharged four patients and two are still undergoing treatment,’’ the medical officer said.

The police are yet to launch an investigation into the incident. “We have not received any report so far,’’ sub-inspector of Mandasa police station Hariskrishna told this correspondent on Saturday evening.
