HYDERABAD: The Telangana police have started gathering information of the cases related to the statehood agitation pending across the state.  It is widely rumoured that the government has sought these details to withdraw the cases registered against statehood activists.

On instructions from the DGP's office, the CID has begun the process of gathering the data. The CID has written to all commissioners and superintendents of police, asking them to furnish information regarding the persons who were arrested and sent to judicial remand from the period between December 9, 2009 and June 2, 2014.

CID officials said that the process might take a few days and the information would be submitted to the government.

It may be recalled that a majority of the cases registered against the agitators during the separate statehood movement have already been withdrawn by the previous government.
